Inspiring People with Disabilities through Meaningful Recreation
Shouldn't we be giving and not just getting? On the day after Thanksgiving, let's turn Black Friday into Track Friday, a day focused on charity, community, and health.
In the spirit of giving back during the holiday season, Warren Special Recreation Association will be raising money along with people across the country on Track Friday. On November 23, we will be hosting open track time at the Warren Township High School, Almond Campus from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. You can support our movement with a donation of any amount and walk as many laps as you like. Participants are welcome to support our fundraiser or create their own fundraiser on the Track Friday team page. Proceeds will be directed to WSRA. Let's join together as a community the day after Thanksgiving to promote fitness, health and giving. If you cannot join us feel free to walk or run wherever you are.
With our mission being Inspiring people with disabilities through meaningful recreation, WSRA has coordinated recreational programs for individuals of all ages since 1981. We take pride in working with schools and agencies so the best services possible are provided. WSRA serves more than 200 individuals in over 400 recreation programs, special events, and trips annually. Our staff is professionally trained in the provision of therapeutic recreation for people with disabilities.
WSRA is much more than recreation: Our program schedules are designed to support the working parent. Our participants enjoy each other's companionship and our programs provide the opportunity for individuals to remain in the community with their families.
WSRA is dedicated to providing recreational opportunities to people of all ages and various disabilities. We offer a wide range of programs including after school recreation, adult day recreation, sports, summer day camps, Special Olympics, music, arts, swimming, bowling, day trips, social clubs, and more. Our programs provide opportunitities not only for recreation but fitness, independence, social skills, behavior development, and many other life skills. Goals are met without even realizing it because the participants have so much fun.
We are hosting a Track Friday fundraiser to expand resources for our participants. Our main goal is to keep our programs affordable for those we serve.
Please consider supporting your WSRA friends, and join us in turning Black Friday into Track Friday, a day focused on philanthropy, community, and health.
